ree

In the last few years, many organizations have been rethinking their physical footprints and a significant part of their workforce are now in home office. This is a massive culture change.

In this global context, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security of Brazil regulated temporary visa and residence authorization, so that immigrants may work for foreign employers while staying in Brazil with no formal employment registered in the country.

The regulation gives one year period of residence, which may be renewed for another one year.

This visa type may be required at an Brazilian Consulate. It is also possible to apply for this residence in Brazil through the Justice Ministry.

In both cases, the immigrant has to proof her or his condition of "digital nomad", also health insure valid in Brazil and a wage of USD 1,500.00 per month or enought bank funds in the minimum amount of US$ 18,000.00, besides documents listed in the regulation.

The "digital nomad" condition has to include presenting a work or service contract, among other documents outlining labor relations with the foreign employer.

In this way, Brazil has a window to bring foreign capital into the country in order to foment local economy, and the "digital nomad" may settle an office anywere in Brazil. This shows good for employee happiness and employer's talent pool.
